Lyrics

Jericho Lazarus
This is Love, This is War Heaven Knows
Can You Say Amen? Don't Let Him Drown
Before My Eyes To Love And Be Loved
Friend of Mine I Would Give you Jesus

Jericho

This my prayer to God will rise
Now His mercy fills my eyes
I was a fortress, a wall towering
closed to the one who should have been king

There He was outside my heart
waiting for the walls to part
Marching so long, 'round the fortress of me
Then came the moment of Jubilee...

Refrain

Jericho, Jericho, I am just like Jericho
As for these walls, just let them fall
Like the walls of Jericho

Maybe like me you've rallied for war
Not sure what your fighting for
Oh, but it's hard to turn love away
Why don't you crumble?
Why don't you say?...

Refrain

I know it takes a struggle
To lay down that flag in surrender
But oh, the love that calls you
Don't say no, don't say no

This is Love, This is War

Some think love a passive emotion
That only lives where peace prevails
But love will fight and die for it's object
And love fights on when all else fails

The enemy of all good rages
He hates us all, he'd like us dead
But God is love, so war He wages
That death itself might die instead

Refrain

To fight in prayer, to die while kneeling
Brings life and peace forevermore
Through these wounds come perfect healing
This is love, this is war

Let there be no mistaking
This is not war like the wars of this world
Lives aren't lost, but saved forever
Beneath salvation's flag unfurled

So fight your pride, your own arch enemy
Walk with the Lamb, fly with the dove
Take up arms to slay your selfishness
This is war, the war of love

Refrain

Bridge: And live forever, King of kindness
Soldier of hearts, Prince of peace
Lead love's army till that day when
Prisoners of war you will release

Underneath that blood stained banner
Is life and peace forevermore
Can you hear His song of battle?
This is love, this is war

Can You Say Amen?

Can you bless the Father for sending His Son?
For the simple gospel that will save anyone from anything
Can you say amen?

Yes, and when He saved our souls He said, "Now love one another."
And by His loving grace we're loving sisters and brothers and that's amazing
Can you say amen?

I can see the day coming like a great Jubilee
Everything returning to the way it should be
World peace
Can you say amen?

Slaves set free
Little children reunited with their mommies and daddies
No new taxes. . . No more taxes!
Can you say amen?

Refrain

Praise the Lord and you'll realize
His coming 'round the corner lies
Praise on your lips will open your eyes

Black man, white man, yellow man brown man red
Together in love (I believe what He said)
Can you say amen

Not one bomb and not one gun because without a summit the King will come
And with love in the hearts of everyone
No one fights. . . Can you say amen?

Refrain

I believe that the time is near at hand
Of happiness in heaven and justice in the land
Jesus is coming! Can you say amen?

Yes, equality, harmony, perfect camaraderie
Honesty, liberty, effortless humility
Absence of verbosity
Can you say amen?

Can you say amen?
Can you say amen?

Slaves set free, perfect liberty, in the jubilee, no new taxes
Every wrong is righted, families reunited, all men in brotherhood
Only good. . .

Before My Eyes

The wind is sobbing quietly
The laughter is a memory
The friends once warm in His embrace
Have gone and left cold, empty space

The Life of men with bated breath
Begins His certain march toward death
And all the world is swallowed up in sorriness

Upon His cheek a flowing tear
And no one there to see or hear
Upon the air a lonely cry
And why did I not answer, why?

He gave His dying breath for me
I gave Him only apathy
And even the birds are weeping in Gethsemane

Refrain

Before my eyes, He cries out for His Father
Before my eyes, He struggles alone
I can be cold, and dark and silent as a stone
But silence cries, and darkness flies, when Jesus dies before my eyes

He can recall his faithful few
James, and John and Peter, too
And in His deep humility
His closest friends all turn to flee
And will I turn to run as well
While Jesus takes my place in hell?
How far will He go?
Golgotha's hill will gladly tell

Friend of Mine

A lasting friendship is a diamond
Lighting up the dark of this dingy world below
And I hope and pray you keep on shining
So many have grown dim
And some, like fallen stars
Burn brightly for a time and now are gone
But hope lives on
That the priceless gem of love will linger long
And the two of us can right a little wrong

Refrain

Friend of mine, in spite of scars, I believe in perfect healing
Friend of mine, in spite of numbing calluses, I still have feeling
And I believe that love can weather any storm and shine
So won't you be, won't you be a friend of mine

A life-long friend is such a treasure
Though some have thought me crazy for continuing to care
But I believe that love can last forever
And I'll take hopeful lunacy
Over rational despair
Any day, anywhere. What can I lose?
And so I choose
To search and seek and try, and try again
To find and keep that treasure called a friend

Lazarus

Lazarus died and was buried
Been in the grave three days
Jesus was coming, I thought, to mourn
So I left the others with Mary
Walked down the road aways
Oh, it was so good to see he'd come

"Lord, if thou hadst been here
he never would have died"
"Lazarus will rise again"
the Lord of Life replied, I said,
At the resurrection, I know he'll rise again
And I will not forget the thing
That Jesus told me then

Refrain

I am the resurrection and the life
He that believes in me shall never die
Only believe, and you will live
Even the dead shall be raised again
Do you believe this?

So we went down to the grave side
Clamoring mourners too
Wailing death's tragedy for a fee
Priests are pretending to sorrow
Hating the Savior who
Would heal and bring life to the world for free.

"Take away the stone" he said and then he gave a shout
It pierced the hush of death when He said "Lazarus come out"

Refrain

Then the silent crowd heard the living word
Saw one who'd be raised from death...
Lazarus had heard

Heaven Knows

All that you've been through
All this time you cried, keeping it inside
People looked away, but heaven heard you pray

Refrain:

Heaven knows, heaven knows
From the heart of God understanding flows
And when your mind and heart are broken
Let your tears become a token
For it's tenderness that shows
Heaven know, heaven knows

Every vain facade
All injustice done in the name of God
Seems to be ignored by most except the Lord
He sees the travesty and weeps in empathy

Refrain

Bridge: Arrows pierce you through
They pierce Jesus too
He created you to mirror His heart
He who made you knows
All your deepest woes
More than you suppose
He'll take your part

Don't Let Him Drown

To all the sailors left on board
Let us be of one accord
If you see someone out there
In waves of doubt a 'goin down
Don't let him drown

The sea is hungry for it's prey
Sometimes we see and look away
But I can't keep from thinking
That could be me a sinking down
Don't let him drown

Refrain

Don't let him drown, throw out a lifeline
You see your brother going down
There is not much time to just enjoy the pretty view
That could be me or you

I will be candid if I may
That's why I'm here with you today
Someone looked out and saw me
And knew those waves would draw me down
And they said, "Don't let her drown"

So if you're sinking in the sea
Or if you're safe on board with me
Reach out for one another
And oh, don't let a brother down
Don't let him drown

Refrain

Bridge: "This ship will brave the storm!" the captain cries
Reach out for someone's arm before that someone dies

Refrain

So if you find someone out there
Find also the grace to say you care
Could be the only cost is
Some word of love, the lost is found
Don't let him drown

To Love And Be Loved

I came to this world with the heart of a painter
I wanted to paint a utopia here
With the glowing green valleys, bespeckled with flowers
Singing blue brooks, ponds shimmering clear

I painted the one, who strolling through heather
Would love and be loved by me all my life long
But the brush ran amok and the colors together
My painting was black and my pipe dream was gone

Refrain

To love and be loved, that's what every heart yearns for
Whether we want to admit it or not
To love and be love seems a foolish endeavor
Yet it's forever, by everyone sought

I woke up today with the realization
That once more I'd sought for love all the wrong ways
In the process it's hurt every gentle relation
This job is too hard for the wages it pays!

I'd like to give up, or take up graffiti
And paint out my pain anywhere I could find
But something won't stop, it seems to compel me
So onward I go with this hope in my mind

Refrain

Bridge: Life is so sweet when I can share it with another now
Life is complete
I know it's worth the pain of learning how to

I Would Give You Jesus

I would give you Jesus, because to give you me
Would only leave you fettered, while He will set you free
I would give you Jesus, to fill your empty cup
Alone I'd spill or break it, but He will fill it up

I would give you Jesus, while we are here today
For I must give you something as we sing and pray
I would give you Jesus, He gave Himself for me
And I received to give, friend, to you, His love, for free
And I received to give, friend, to you, His love, for free
